The young do not know enough to be prudent, therefore they attempt the impossible - and achieve it, generation after generation.

I have one more OFR to setup and a nice blue swamp ash build with hardtail - plain sailing

That blue ask one - do you mind if I ask how you manage to get the grain one colour and the main body another?
I had a thought with oil based wudtone - using one colour, then applying a second colour into the grain and sanding back until the previous colour shows. But I think it would be messy and tricky!
when you hit swamp ash with a dye, the deeper grain always goes darker.. plus I lighten the top of the body after its been dyed to enhance that effect.
if you were wanted a different colour in the deep grain, most people use a grain filler for that I believe followed by dying the top wood.. a similar thing to what I did with that swap ash tele I made a while ago.
BTW - I dont use Wudtone, I mix my own dyes from powder and the blue body has been satin lacquered instead of oiled.

every so often, something bigger happens and while it may be more presentation related than quality, it feels like a quality improvement.
This time, its a satin finish over figured and coloured maple, I love it.
