Amp Demo Day - Nottingham 30th May. ITS ON!!

As I have a few amps for sale and was offering potential buyers the opportunity to demo them I wondered whether it might be a viable proposition to organise a day of demos for forum members to bring amps or themselves/guitars/pedalboards to try a load of different stuff out. I know I would have loved to try out different amps when I was beginning my search.

I have a shared rehearsal room (big with two rooms, though they are not isolated very well from one another) which my old band have on a Monday. My two sons have the room on Fridays and Saturdays, so by arrangement we could have those days or both from midnight Friday morning through till midnight on Saturday night (I dont think a Monday would be a viable option really). Its in Nottingham, parking is a bit problematic but for guys bringing amps we could arrange drop offs then nip off to park close by.

Format could be open to interesting options, either use the PA to play backing tracks, just jam with or without a drummer, or just play an amp you're interested in solo.

So if you are selling anything and would like to offer a demo would you be interested? As people signed up we'd update a list of available gear. Everybody selling would have to agree to keep the gear on demo till the end of the day so people coming a distance would get to try it even though it might have been 'sold' (y'know like the red dot thingy at art galleries). People bringing an amp for others to demo even though its not for sale would be another option. Rather like going to Coda/Peach without the volume restrictions! (and probably without much of the nice stuff too, but who knows!!)

Great idea. I'm still flipping back and forth on selling my Soldano (I've had a bit of a breakthrough with recording today, which suddenly makes me want to keep it), but I'd happily bring it along just for people to try, assuming the date fits.

Could bring my Jet City too, since there are still people wanting to try those out. No point selling them second hand, given the new prices

Quite possibly.  The wife works an hour int he afternoon, so would have to get it past her (given somebody need to have the kids), but as Im in Nottingham its only 20 min drive into town.

Not a lot in the way of amps Im afraid - bar my Fender Machete, but can bring my AFX2 rig....

OK, I'll sort out some dates.

Any prefs? Obviously a Saturday would be best. I'm away 9th-17th May so it'll be after that I would think.  Only option before then would be 2nd May but that would be a bit too soon I reckon.

Have you thought about bringing them to the Walsall event for the "Knackerd Jack and the Resistors" tour which @alnico is organising? The thread is here and the planned date is (I believe) May 30th.

This is such a horrendous idea - fill a room or two full of things I'd fall in love with but haven't got time/space/money to keep? Sounds like torture to me, and a bit too like the Bullseye "here's what you could have won!".  :P
