A rough idea on the current stuff, no idea on total spend of equipment and guitars I've bought, traded etc..

If I think of all the money I wasted doing up cars or wasted in other ways in years gone by etc.. having money tied up in guitars is no bad thing :)

Can't remember how much I paid for a lot of it, but I know the insurance value.

It's in 5 figures, and that terrifies me.

No, I'm not telling any of you lot where I live.

  • What I own now, is incredibly little in cost new. Main slide guitar, amp and Zoom G3X is less than a grand retail. And my main tele is worth sod all, as its bits of this and that. Even the neck was made especially for me as a gift.

That's what happens when ye go 'vintage' mate   :)

Yes I have, and given that most of it is at the mercy of a 3yr old, 7yr old, and an 11yr old (not to mention the Mrs), it's no fucking wonder I drink.

£150 amp and a £200 guitar, some homemade IEM system which cost about £40 to build and that's it :) And I gig for a living !
I've had some more expensive gear in the past though

I do every so often and then balance that by working out how I funded it  - mainly from online sales of music related items. Then I don't feel any remorse whatsoever - just as it should be!

In terms of what I paid, I daren't.

In terms of residuals, looking at the state of most of it, I'd say I'm into the scrap value end of the depreciation curve.

Given that most was bought used, I'm only glad that I'm not in charge of a hedge fund. Or a hedgehog for that matter.

About £2000 for absolutely everything musical that I own at the moment, which is reasonable, I think.

Was definitely in five figures at one point a few years ago.  Not doing that again. :-O

Yes, for the insurance premium. The really sad thing is that helps with wife "keep tabs". It's way more than is sane. It's also doubled since I joined theFB... although one guitar takes up the bulk of that.
