The "how to transcribe" videos that @octatonic did a couple of years back were great - I'd like to see more on how to develop musicianship like that.
I'd also love to see some workshop tours of some of the Made in The UK companies - Rift Amps, Oil City Pickups, ThorpyFX, Feline Guitars etc

  • The @RandallFlagg Comedy Showcase - might be one of the shorter videos.....
As I tell my wife, it's not the length that's important just focus on the quality of the content
So more about mirth, than length?

Thanks, I am pleased you liked it- there was a definite lack of 'production' to those videos though, it was basically a phone with inbuilt mic.

I'd forgotten about those - they were good.

  • Maybe I've got ADHD but I can't watch That Pedal Show.  It may just be the videos that I've seen, but there seems to be a lot of chat.  I tried to watch one on fuzz pedals the other day and it was about 18 minutes before a fuzz pedal was even shown.

The video @WiresDreamDisasters did of the Muffroom Cloud is concise.

From my point of view as someone only just starting out on the guitar journey I'm happy to watch stuff pitched at a 'higher' level.  I'm of the opinion that whilst it might not be immediately useful it does plant some knowledge and it's something I know where to find when it doe becomes relevant.

I like gear reviews but would be much more interested in someone spending some time showing me all the things a pedal (or whatever) can do.  A lot of the so called 'reviews' out there are some guy just setting it to one value and then showing off their playing for 5+ minutes.

  • Need to think about the audience.  We have very different levels of ability here so content has to reflect that.
Worth bearing in mind that this isn't actually a venture designed with tFB's members as the audience, specifically. If anything, it's the other way round - the logistics involved won't necessarily mean that we can get loads of people involved, but I'd like to think that we can work it so that the videos represent output from the forum, as well as increasing its influence in the music world.

@Paul7926 , I wish I'd wrote that.  Hearing a pedal in the context of a track and also being shown what it can do, to me, is much more beneficial that hearing the same blues noodling for ages .

I'm probably not the target market, so I'll just say keep the intro short.
This. I have the attention span of a nine year old.

Fast, snappy intro with bullet points, and timing markers for the features in the description.

    I want to jump straight to IR sampling without wading through someone talking v e r y   s l o w l y  in a monotone about how to unbox a capo.

Gear demo's are always welcome - but real world application, i.e. how they work in your chain, sweet spots, getting the best from them sort of thing. Not just "high end" stuff too.. many people can't afford the latest strymon/helix etc so show how you can make mid-range stuff work too.

I like the idea of a magazine show / discussions of stuff.. With you tube channels people watch the demos etc but they come back for the personalities, so strong & regular personalities needed :)

  • A lot of sensible suggestions so far.  Solo Of The Month is an easy bite-size way of getting some members' playing out there, and by definition will only last a minute and be to a relatively high standard of production and playing.  Aside from that, establishing a core of a few recognisable members who can string a sentence together in front of the camera would help establish the "personality" aspect.  Maybe each one would have their own specialist subject, like Fox Force Five without hair or attractiveness.

Subject-matter wise, the old pedalboard run-down canard is a reliable one.  Tutorials and reviews are always going to be relevant to someone out there, if not to everybody all of the time.
