And I thought it couldn't get any worse! :x

I set up guitars perfectly, for me - and they absolutely do not "play like butter", spelt correctly or otherwise :). I understand what you think it means, but it doesn't. A guitar that is set up perfectly does not feel anything like a lump of greasy animal fat.

If they did I'd feel like I needed to wash my hands. It makes me disgusted and annoyed in about equal measure, I think. Spelt wrong it's probably the most offensive term I've ever heard to describe a guitar.

I tried playing butter,it`s not very resonant, makes a dull thud when you hit things with it but
eventually goes soft and messy and doesn`t make any sound really !
Moronic to liken a guitar to it really.

    This is more like it.

    Some genuine forum anger!

    Fight!

I agree, any reference to butter, or Buttah, is silly.

I have, however, been known to refer to particularly nice guitars as "She".  As in, "She's mighty purty, Delilah. Bring me my scratchin' stick and some jerky. A-diggy-ding-dang-do"

That's how we speak in County Down when we're not marching or staging protests over flags.

    get over it. :P

some guitars will have a finish so sleek and drag free that a simile comparing it to some kind of lubrication kinda makes sense.

maybe from now on I will say "plays like a pornstars bum hole", or would that make it seem like it had a flappy G string???

My pet hate is "this is the best guitar I have ever played"

Why are you selling it then?

I've sold the best guitar I've ever owned - in terms of tone and responsiveness. I couldn't get on with the neck profile.

I also previously sold the best one I'd owned at that point because my music style had changed to the point it was no long getting played.

Sometimes people are forced into selling great guitars because they need the money, too.

But I probably wouldn't say so in the ad, or at least not without an explanation of why it was being sold, otherwise it just comes across as sales nonsense.

I think they're shooting too low, I'd go for "this is the best guitar in the history of western music".

On the other hand, if someone buys an really expensive Guitar and it doesn't play well, they can say

"The way it plays, I can't believe it's not Butter!"

Think we owe the yanks a big thanks for this as I picked this up from some software guys a few years back. Every time they redid the interface the word buttery came into the conversation. Googling it seems to have it coming from skateboarders who complete a trick really well. Derived from anything with butter on is better than something without "urban dictionary" It sort of sticks as I have used it a few times but then I spend half the week talking to US suppliers the other Uk customers so it all gets blurred in the end. I thought it just meant smooth and nice
