DALEKS

What's Hot

As a kid these were my bete noire ..........I was obsessively scared of them and they were the stuff of many a nightmare
Even in adulthood I have still had the occaisional  bad dream about them.
Of course, as a 5 year old it doesn't occur to you that if you ran upstairs that they would be met by an insurmountable obstacle, or indeed, that if your parents invested in a fashionable (for the time ) shagpile carpet for the hall that it would really fuck them up !
Who else lives in fear of the metallic acne ridden automatons with death-ray arms that look like kitchen egg-whisks ?
OR other childhood fears ......do tell .....

I never had a problem with Daleks, Cybermen etc, it was the giant green glowing maggots in 'The Green Death' that terrified me.

I was terrified by the various baddies Christopher Lee used to play in those old 60s films.  (I think he's brill now of course.)

    My trading feedback

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

If we're talking very young, it was Parsley the lion in The Herbs. Don't know why but my dad said I'd cry when Parsley appeared on screen.

    So is my wife.

I'm all tough and manly so the only thing I fear is fear itself.
    And heights.

Never scared of the Daleks .. the Cybermen with the cloth masks (they are coming back) were scary as were the Autons - shop dummies coming to life. And the Yeti, although that was more the first story I saw set in a dimly lit London Underground network with lots of foam and soldiers from UNIT. And the story with the giant Devil and the gargoyles on a church which came to life and killed people.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

For me it was the Yeti that required watching from behind the sofa ....never found the Dalek or Cybermen alarming at all, though Davros .. my 5-10 year old self was not so sure about him ....

I actually liked Daleks when I was a kid, and still do really. Cybermen scared me though and so did Lord Charles the ventriloquist's doll, and still does a bit.

    Camping.

I sneakily watched Friday the 13th on VHS when I was 6 or 7 years old. Didn't like camping for a while after that.

Yep, I recall an episode, the last in a Tom Baker series, just as he was wrapping up where they suddenly burst through a brick wall next to him and scared the life out of me, it was a set up for the next series as they were to be his nemesis.

It really got to me at the time.

Prince Vigo in Ghostbusters II scared the shit out of me as a child.

If you let a bit of the air out you can make them more comfortable....

Thanks, that's a top tip. I bought a cardboard one but it just wasn't cut out for that sort of thing.

The cardboard ones dig in too much - and you don't get a good 'o' face on them...
