Surprised at how sad I feel about this. Too soon. Superunknown is one of my favourite albums.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

This is the worst news. I saw Soundgarden twice at Hyde park, loved them when I was an awkward teen.

What a voice. What a fucking voice....

When I saw this I assumed it was one of those really unfunny spoof stories that do the rounds.

Really sad.  I saw Soundgarden open for Guns 'N' Roses at Gateshead Stadium and they blew them away.  Love Badmotorfinger, Down on the Upside, Superunknown, etc.  25 years ago.  Mortality reminder if ever you need one.

I don't care how far out of my range it is, I'm now going to badly sing along to some of their songs.

    Man, I'm fucking gutted.

Saw them play a few times.  Superunknown was the second album I ever owned.

    RIP Chris.

I feel like a proper Jessie but I had to go into the toilets at work because my cheeks went tingly and I went a bit weepy.

Soundgarden were a massive part of my love for the Seattle sound and I got to see them several times all brilliant shows.

Andrew Wood will get at the gates waiting for him and they can be room mates again and kick out some awesome Mother Love Bone/Temple of the Dog tunes

Last night - watched the 'Sounds like' from Andertons. Still want the rotary tones off BHS. Decided this AM I would listen to Black Hole Sun....never normally get time but today I put it on my phone whilst scrambling to get ready.

Now....this. 1 hour later I find out he has died.

A very unique vocalist/musician/writer. I still think Soundgarden was his strongest work, but that is when I first heard him, so I have fond memories. Very unique dark almost bordering on doom (some tracks) style of alternative music...and really spearheading the grunge movement with the other fantastic bands.

I've never heard another band like Soundgarden and I doubt I ever will.

Sad news. RIP dude. I feel sorry for his family :(

According to the BBC's current piece on this, he was gigging a few hours before.  No indication anything was wrong with him.  Can't believe what a shock this was to his family.

    :(

    RIP.

One of the best singers of all time and certainly the best of his generation.

Soundgarden are a huge influence of mine.
