A former Ukip MEP has demanded the death penalty be introduced – for suicide bombers.

Janice Atkinson, who stood for Ukip in Folkstone and Hythe before becoming an independent politician, made the comments following the Manchester terror attack which claimed 22 lives on Monday night.

Atkinson said: ‘Much needs to be done to eradicate this evil.

‘But there is one simple step which we can take now: we must bring back the death penalty.

Not sure she's thought this through ..... ;-)

I'm all for it just as long as we can bring back public lashings for fraudsters.

I saw the UKIP party election broadcast this week. Laughably bad. Its like something the Comic Strip would have done in the 80s. Its worth looking up and watching for the laugh. Really.

To be fair she doesn't actually say she wants the death penalty for suicide bombers in the article but for terrorist crimes, that's the Metro taking artistic licence with the truth by adding a ridiculous headline.

...and she's no longer in UKIP either.

I'm okay with the death penalty as long as we use it for MEPs who fiddle their expenses. Applying it to terrorist conspirators and creating martyrs might be a bit counter productive.

Putting aside the let's-misquote-something-for-a-headline lazy journalism ...

Whether you agree with their cause or not, UKIP was - for a few years - a highly effective protest movement that garnered significant public support and ultimately achieved their objective.

(They did that in a way that Corbyn will never understand or be able to emulate).

But, having done their thing, UKIP should really now disappear before it becomes any more similar to the good old Monster Raving Loony Party and the target of even more public ridicule.  The longer that they stay around becoming ever more ridiculous, the greater the chance than they'll be remembered for being ridiculous rather than for being the most effective protest movement since the Suffragettes.

And I'll repeat, that's no judgement on the cause itself, just on their success in achieving it and the subsequent implosions.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

I *HATE* that kind of argument. I was riding my bike yesterday, went around a left-hander, the bike slipped into neutral while approaching the corner and there was a truck coming the way. Luckily, I managed to kick it down a gear, pass through the skidding back wheel, and get the bike pointed back into the corner in time. If I had died though, that would be my fault. It would be doing something that I chose to do, even if I was hit head on my a drunk driver. It is a risk I knowingly take.

I don't buy for one second that getting fucking shot or blown up on the tube, in a crowd, on a plane, or whatever is REMOTELY similar.

Saying it is, is just apologism from people who should know better.

Unsurprising, considering news networks and print media no longer report fact. They just do opinion pieces and are more concerned with shaping and influencing the news, than reporting it.

I'm not surprised by such a statement.  As archaic and barbaric as the death penalty is, many are still in favour of.

Just over half... for murder.   I looked at the link expecting to see over half supporting it "in some cases" or some other result from a vague question.
