Pond life

What's Hot
in the garden knocking back a few mudslides so excuse me in my fuzzy state but I was just thinking how much I love my pond, it's one of the best most calming things I have created in the garden.

That is a really lovely pond. I don't have one, I live in a flat so I've had to settle for an aquarium.

Where I'm currently living has a pond, very relaxing but also quite a bit of work, esp. if blanket weed gets a hold. I have to have a net covering it otherwise herons take the goldfish.

Columbo blanket weed remover, 100% guaranteed. It's done wonders for mine and a workmates pond, we couldn't believe it.

Yeah, we have a smallish wildlife pond. Along with the many birds that bathe in it, we've had frogs, toads and all manner of invertebrates.
Garden ponds are a vital resource for wildlife and we need more of them!
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

We've got a pond, three tiers with waterfalls in between. Loads of newts in the bottom one this year.  We've had frogs in the past too but one of the bloody cats fishes them out and kills them, the little bastard!

  • We have frogs and every year get loads of spawn but it has never taken.

We've got a load of tadpoles swimming around happily in ours atm.

There were loads of loads, but we've also got a family of very well fed Moorhens & chicks on the pond ...
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

I once found a frog in a bucket I left out in the garden. Does that count?

I'd love one, an ex's grandfather had a big estate with a couple of lakes big enough to fish that I envied. Had four or five aquariums on the go at one point but just the one marine tank now. Smaller scale obviously but same theory, fascinating taking care of your own little slice of ecosystem.

Videos not working for me but the still looks nice. You should get a few weather loaches, had one in a cold freshwater set up once and a real interesting animal. Supposedly sense barometric pressure and spaz our just before storms. If you get one call it Michael and recite the joke on Cone Dine With Me.

I have a meandering stream right across the rear of mine. No life forms but plenty of archeology gets washed up - just this week - these:
