A telecaster with block inlays on the fretboard ... is it wrong?

The Telebration series had two models with blocks. I prefer the look of rosewood one but I prefer maple necks on Fenders, the black blocks on the maple looks more wrong...

I'm far less offended by them than a say any guitar with a quilted maple top.

Jeez. My local Fender dealership stocked about half of those Tele-bration models plus the butterscotch 60th Anniversary model. I have a shrewd idea where two of them went.

Yep - the 70's get criticised a lot for guitar and bass output - but this is probably the only Jazz I would genuinely say that I absolutely love the look of (1974 Jazz b'n'b in Natural):
