Jimi: All Is By My Side - that rotten Hendrix biopic with Andre 3000.

To be fair, his portrayal of Hendrix was about the best thing about that film, which looked like it cost about £17.50 to make.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Dig -  Great movie documenting the Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Anton was a complete fecking mess back then. Well worth a watch.

I remember a film called Hype about the grunge scene, I can't remember if it was any good though.

I'll give him a very slight benefit of the doubt given how little he had to work with, but I thought the whole film made Hendrix seem like some random hippy twat who played a handful of gigs and beat up his girlfriend.  Not anybody remotely special and certainly not someone we'd still be talking about 50 years later.

    Head - The Monkees

I'll also mention a 'so bad it's good' one: The Prince Story: Icon, Genius, Slave. It's a Channel 5 documentary about Prince (natch) that combines a few decent interviews from those you don't usually hear from (first producer etc.) with a dramatized version of his life. They had a British actor play Prince because he looks almost exactly like Prince (it's actually quite eerie) but they should have gone with someone who could act/sing. Half the time I was watching through my fingers, the other half just laughing out loud. There's a scene where he's singing with a band - I think it's meant to be depicting a rehearsal session - and you can see the other actors just looking at him in disbelief. Excruciating.

Blow Up - largely a piece of overblown poo but it has the Beck/Page incarnation of the Yardbirds in it.

No love for Easy Rider?  It was the first "music film" I ever saw, in some fleapit in Glasgow one rainy Saturday afternoon.

It was great - I stayed and watched it all the way through a second time.

Some good docs I haven't seen mentioned so far...

End Of The Century (The Ramones)
    We Jam Econo (The Minutemen)
Not A Photograph (Mission Of Burma)
    Instrument (Fugazi)
You Weren't There: A History Of Chicago Punk 1977-84

Also got a real soft spot for Rock N' Roll High School, which is everything you'd expect from a Roger Corman musical about The Ramones.
