No guitar will make you happy. Happiness comes from within.
I was with you until you didn't point out that it's shoes that make people happy. And hats.

I'm easy, either way.. just saying..
     =)
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

All even the very finest guitars will do is temporarily divert you from the impermanence of life, the transitory nature of relationships, the nonexistence of lasting love and the futility of work....

  • If you love the way your current strat plays but want a slightly different sound then just get yourself a loaded scratch plate and swap them over.

I love the tone and sound of my LP.  But i've been playing an HSS strat a lot and learning to play proper music - so scale practice, legato and arpeggio practice and the strat is soo much easier to play.

what would be marvellous would be an HSH or maybe HH guitar, with a trem. 22 frets, good access to the dusty end with the playability of this neck - http://www.mightymite.com/mm2925----p-77.html (as i've got a highly polished and finished one on my strat and it's wonderful) but with the creamy and flutey sounds of my lester

what do you recon.  it's the neck that makes the strat play so well.

it it impossible - and therefore I should just get a donor strat, swap the pups to hsh and buy another neck and shuddap.  or do we suggest one of the PRS  or are there other guitars out there?

budget - it depends.  if I sold a few bits i'd have £500 immediately.  If i had a mad moment I could flog the yamaha sa2200 which would release another £1K ish but then i'd regret selling the yam one day!

thoughts?  options?  remember it's all in the neck but with the LP sounds and good top access

    ta
Ibanez JS1200. I swear by mine. The most versatile guitar I own.
Blistering shred machine or subtle blues axe.
The neck is closer to vintage than a super fast Ibby neck. 22 fret, great upper access.
The neck pick up is as close to a Les Paul neck pick up tone as you'll get without actually playing your Lester and coil tap as standard.

The high pass filter comes in handy too.

What's not to love? Give one a go.

All the right notes, not always in the right order!

If you are a Strat guy, don't fight it.
The guitar you mentioned has inspired you. If it is not your guitar, do what you have to do to acquire it.

But it may be more than the pickup configuration that you have bonded with it. It may simply be a great guitar. Buy another Strat later and mess with that one instead.

it is a great guitar and should not be fecked with as it's hss.  What I'm going to end up with I betcha is an HSH strat with eventually a neck swap to another mighty mite C with jumbo frets.  That's is what my water is telling me
