Lemon Oil

What's Hot
I don't use a ton of this, but always have some on hand. So, Jim Dunlop at a fiver or this spotted in TK Maxx at 5.99 (lifetime supply!) Any good?

The little label does seem to say "pure oil no solvents" which would have been my concern...

It might be 'pure oil, no solvents' but then so is Sunflower Oil. Lemon oil as a finishing product is not known for it's polish. Its a fairly thin, penetrating oil that doesn't really leave a sheen on the surface at all. This, for instance (and a little over £10 for 500ml, a heck of a lot cheaper than Dunlops')

    http://www.agwoodcare.co.uk/products/chestnutlemonoil/?combination=227_803&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjdLOBRCkARIsAFj5-GDHZOb195EQji0KLFdvO0zlgzttNuU2uk0Qo68pJj-_L_CLmQ9CsAoaAm4gEALw_wcB

Not sure I would use the TK Maxx product on a fretboard.

    Neither.

Get some pure bore oil from the chemist or from a music shop that sells woodwind instruments or a gunshop where it's used on stocks. All cheaper and better alternatives to the fancy chemical laced stuff branded for guitars.

    Neither. Use MusicNomad's F-One Oil.

I was reading about this other day - from what I can gather, "lemon oil" furniture polish is not the same as "lemon oil" guitar polish, and the furniture polish shouldn't be let anywhere near your guitar.

Here's the link - not sure how impartial he is, but some interesting info nonetheless: http://www.guitaranswerguy.com/12-lemon-oil-debate/

I've been using that Lemon for years just as good as JD but at a much low cost.

Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

Dunlop "Lemon Oil" is mostly mineral oil with some lemon scents added to make it smell nice. I use it on all my rosewood fretboards and it seems to do the job and leave no undesireable residue.

Whether it’s any good or not, that quality is likely to become a family heirloom - unless you’re @HarrySeven.

My half-full bottle of Dunlop lemon oil is approaching ‘vintage’....

This. Instead of regurgitated 'internet wisdom', I will always take the word of the man with real everyday hands-on experience.
