Have you had a go yet? How are you finding the pickups?
Very brief - just mostly tuning, setting intonation and pickup height. I'll have a go later, and really I should wait till I have some knobs on it ;)

First impression tho - they are high output..! P is solid thumpy P, more modern voice than vintage - J is pretty well balanced with it.

    I think I will like...
Ok that’s good, I was worried the J wouldn’t keep up, I’ve not tried the J but the P is properly loud compared to a vintage style pickup.

I do think they look really cool with the Allen pole pieces
The J is pretty pokey.. it's raised up a bit compared to the P, but it balances pretty well!

Oh, one little addition about the J - it's a split coil - and it really is very quiet hum and noise wise..

Looks good enough to, errrr, play.

    :)

My body/neck have just arrived (yesterday).  I'm going to try some colour staining options on mine, so it'll take a little while to get it all together.

Who did you use for the pots & knobs?
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Allparts - availability was sketchy at best... tone on one is a bit notchy so I might swap it out for another one..

    Try Servisol first.

    If that fails try WD-40…

Less hassle than changing the pot, if it works.

I actually think the pot itself is a bit fooked - I can't be arsed to send it back so I may just get another.

It works fine at the mo, but might fail in the future tho.

Did it work correctly before you fitted the control knobs?

Some times, a poorly aligned control knob can foul against the pickguard, pushing the innards of the pot apart by enough to cause crackling or interrupt the signal.

Nope. Was dodgy when I took it out the packet. Decided to fit it (impatience) and then replace later once I've ordered one
