I have a Morley.
I borrowed my friend's for a year or so 10 years ago, so when I bought myself one recently, I bought a Morley...
It's another model to the model I borrowed; looks the same but has different knobs.

Of all pedals, the Wah is the one I have had most difficulty with.

I had a Morley Bad Horsie on long term loan when they first came out in the 90's. Absolutely loved it. When it went back to it's owner, I did without a wah for years.

When I wanted to buy a wah again, I just picked up a cheap Morely classic wah. Nothing like as good as I remember the bad horsie being. It was tame by comparison. Sold it on.

Eventually bought an original bad horsie a couple of years ago. Nowhere near as good as the first time around. The sweep on the thing was terrible. Went from fully on to fully off with just a fraction of movement. Took it apart, dusted out the insides, cleaned up the optical lens etc and tried some tweaks but nothing really helped.

With hindsight I should have never have given the original bad horsie I had back to it's owner!

Now I have a AMT Japanese girl wah, which I really like. Fits nicely on my pedalboard, and I have got the hang of it's small size. Great sounds and a nice sweep.

I could quite happily collect Wah's...

I think its something to do with me finding a really old Vox Wah in the attic (belonged to my Dad) and I think the whole excitement around that find has stuck.

Currently have a CAE on my pedalboard, an old modded Crybaby somewhere together with an old Jen Wah and unfortunately, I no longer have the old Vox mentioned above :-(

I've deleted a number of posts on this thread that were just insults (or requotes thereof).

If you want to discuss wah pedals, do it here.

If you want to trade insults, go elsewhere.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

  • I love wah. Particularly after a dirt pedal. Not too keen on the Morley ones though, never got on with the sweep. Currently have the ernie ball one as it has an on off led, which I find usefull. But it' the cry baby that for me has the best sound.

I always loved RHCP sir psycho sexy for the wah...

To be honest @darcym - my love of Slash's guitar pre dates my knowledge of guitars and when I first picked up one organically, his GoldTop was my favourite.
Before I liked his GoldTop, as a baby, I used to sit for fun at home looking at Argos and Index catalogues at their musical instruments looking at Argos gear hoping members of Guns N' Roses like Slash, Duff, Izzy etc if they could play a show with these guitars because I wanted them to use what I saw in these cheap A' catalogues.

But many years later but many years ago, when I picked up the guitar...
I then got it in me what tone I like/what guitar I like and what a guitar could/should sound like, like IDK, for all I knew Slash's GoldTop was stock ... It was/is an amazing guitar.

Then years later I found out about guitars then pickups and then bridges etc...

I like the idea of mini wahs (i has a mini board) - but i'm always sceptical about the sweep..  I think its the Mooer Wahter that has extendable foot bit which is pretty cool, but i particularly like the Plutonium Chi Wah Wah.. anyone seen these?
Interesting take on a mini wah..

The Chi Wah Wah is one of the better wah pedals.

  • Mines a 1989 Crybaby which I have never changed and not found any need to.

I have modded it though to bypass the buffer and it sounds great.

Sweeping with delay is my particular weakness not the waka waka waka stuff.

I've got an old inductorless colour sound wah it's great but MASSIVE.

On a side note you might want to get some contact cleaning in the pot of your wah sounds a little scratchy so could probably do with a clean.

Mine is a Teese RMC-3LE. Lots of fine-tuning options...

  • My #1 wah is a BYOC circuit in an old Carlsbro shell, chosen largely because it's chrome and awesome. I also added an LED on the side so it makes the floor glow when you switch it on.

Trim pots are the same controls as the RMC, iirc. I have volume at unity, with Q and mids nice and high.

Typical forum eh? - OP asks for people to post themselves playing Wahs. Forum responds with pictures of their Wahs.
