not a complaint but an observation.
i know i could really apply myself to making them sound different but why jump hurdles i don't need to, just to say i used an acoustic. electrics do what i want better.
re 'this is all i need' attitude. poverty takes care of a bit of that. it concentrates the mind. do i have one nice or three average?
i'm also lucky in that i can get all i want out of my one. maybe i have a limited (special hehe) needs.
i hate gear shopping. it frustrates me as i'm so picky. if the colour is right then the neck is wrong, if the neck is right it's a crap shape, etc.
so i decided life is too short. what i've got works brilliantly for me, and i stopped playing the field and settled down in my early 20s guitar-wise.
question to you. if you had less guitars would you play more? eg does guitar buying/selling and thinking about potential future gear acquisitions use up playing time?
sometimes there can be a critical mass when the things you own start owning you, in that their upkeep and concerns about/around them can become a thing apart from the thing itself.
i have known classic car collectors who say they don;t have time to drive because they spend so much time maintianing their fleet. it happens.
also, are you Stu from belle and sebastian? is so, thanks for string bean jean. it's cool.

No acoustics.
No basses.
I have previously owned an acoustic and four basses, but - quite unlike the electrics - I was able to view them realistically and realise I didn't "need" them.

1 classical
2 acoustic
9 electric (2 s-type partscasters, 1 t-type partscaster, 1 original design parts build, 2 Shine SIL-510 models, both with upgraded pickups, 1 Ibanez AS103 semiacoustic with Oil City pickups, 1 Ibanez JP20 archtop (1980), 1 Ibanez AH10 Holdsworth model (1985) )
So that is 13, and there is a tele partscaster in the offing when I get that done.
