Here’s some John Mayer for beginners - the second solo at around 5:30 Mark sees him let rip a bit. Although this isn’t where John is at his best for me, there’s too many beaten up Strat guys doing the SRV/Hendrix ripping, such as Phillip Sayce, Matt Schofield etc, that whilst undoubtably good, bores the living shit out of me. I’d still rather listen to Mayer do it though as at least it’s on the back of a cracking song and he has his own thing going on.

  • Ok. I've had a listen to a few bits. Didn't do much for me if I'm honest. Would be okay as lift / hold music.

“That’s about as good as I’ve ever heard”, is about the best thing B B King could ever say to you, isn’t it?

Genuinely beautiful playing from Derek Trucks....

I've got to be honest, Gravity is one of the gayest songs ever written.

U tube the live shows he did with Keith Urban, it might be a little too slick for some,  but it's got great vocals, great guitar playing and good songs.

Wow, I get that you might not like the song and all, but that’s a comment of a 12 year old. From the 70’s.

  • Heavier things is a great album. The rest of his stuff I’m not that into

Still can’t forgive him for his truly dreadful cover of crossroads though.

    Nope

    Trucks Tedeschi Band tho

If I'm listening to pop, well tell me this isn't better than anything Mayer has written.

Don't know if I've ever heard any of his stuff. I was under the impression he's a sort of sexy Joe Bonamassa.

I don't listen to Bonamassa either, so I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about.

I assume that I've got it wrong.

What makes people bother writing a comment that says they've never listened to his music?

"I've got no useful input to this thread but I just wanted you all to know that"....

All this thread goes to prove is that some people like John Mayer, some people don’t....

But remember the famous saying “Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one”
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.
