That ES-275 Thinline looks saucy, but what's this "thermally engineered" bracing and centre-block?

There always seems to be some pseudo-scientific new feature, it's getting as bad as shampoo lol

Those top 2 LP's are beautiful, love the colours!

ES-275 Thinline, DC Tribute Junior and the V/Explorer look nice.

I'd still not buy a Gibson.

Yawn for the most part, not many P90 options and how could they get the junior so wrong.

Technically the Jr is 100% right as they invented it, it's def time to leave the past guitar wise :D

I like the Junior, it looks great. I know it's not the traditional scratchplate layout but it works for me.

They've screwed the Firebird using conventional tuners fixed upside down to then edge of the headstock. The string pull past the nut was straight inline on the older models, now the angle is increasing as the strings get thicker so the bottom E.. Doh!
Also the headstock is no longer two tone. Definitely a downgrade IMHO.

    Old headstock:

Yeah not a lot to save their world from the looks of it.
The junior as a tribute range, I presume to be cheaper hence the whole body getting routed with a big pick guard more basic cnc time but less manual work and the whole electrical assembly just drops in.

So does this constitute ‘simplifying the range’?

That’s not my point at all - I’d love a modernised jr, look what Feline, Reverend, Rivolta do with the Jr formula. Then look at that obination! It’s just pig ugly.

No - that DC Jr is just wrong and - no SG Jrs either... Gibson really do struggle to get the concept - they must employ ex Apprentice candidates...

  • So one argument is that companies can't just keep selling the same old tat - they need to diversify and go with the times. But Gibson SPECIFICALLY caters for people who want to capture golden-age rock and roll instruments and are happy to pay for them. I really, REALLY don't understand why they keep going off the reservation.

Is any modern metal player thinking to themselves: oh sh**t I've got to get me one of them les pauls, they've got chrome pickup rings!

Why can't they just make the Junior right:(.

Actually, that Junior looks great once you get past the purist traditionalism BS....

I can totally understand *why* as its much cheaper to manufacture in that way (refer Leo Fender) and I think it looks great - although its a touch close to the old Ibanez Roadstar pickguard shape.

As long as its sold and marketed as an inexpensive student guitar, with a good sound and great neck - what's the issue. Want traditional, buy old/secondhand - its not like there aren't any available!!!

The 275 looks nice - apart from the crap colour. That would look *incredible* in Gold, and one could release one's inner Bauhaus with it.

The Les Pauls feature FAR too much flamed maple. Stop it. Tarts handbags appeal to some, but frankly too many models are endowed/inflicted with flamed maple.

SG range looks untouched to me. Good.

New cases - as long as they give good support and are *LIGHT* then they get my vote. Too many of the "cool" cases weigh more than the guitars they 'protect' - I am NOT a fan of those bloody G&G cases that come with Fenders and some PRS instruments, as they are not very strong yet weigh the same as the moon. Traditionalists will always blather about the brown Gibson cases, but truth be told they aren't *that* good for protecting the guitars. I don't care what a case looks like, tbh, as long as it serves its purpose.
    Never Ever Bloody Anything Ever.
