Squier vs epiphone = epiphone win.
Fender vs gibson = fender win.

Weird that. Maybe I need to play more Gibson's.

    Easy.
    Solid body - Fender.
    Semi - Gibson.
"Anybody can play. The note is only 20%. The attitude of the motherf*cker who plays it is  80%" - Miles Davis

Jeff Beck on preferring his Esquire to his Les Paul conversion back in the day:

I wanted the Les Paul, but when I got it [he got his first one early in 1966], it was so refined, and not really the tool you need on stage for some reason. The controls were in the wrong place. I kept hitting the pickup selector on/off in the wrong position. The Esquire—no problem at all. I used to spin it around on top of the amp and change the speed of the echo while it was feeding back. Total lunacy! I used to try and break it. And I never broke it.

I've gone full Gibson now but I do sometimes wonder if Fender players have more fun. It would be nice to be able to be less careful

If course I'm choosing Gibson here. Sonic pulverisation

I think I'll have to say Gibson as I don't get on with the feel of Fenders. Albeit I do like the sound of a strat ;)

  • Gibson.
I mainly play an acoustic. I’ve never played a Fender acoustic I’ve liked. Simple.

If its electric ONLY then I’d have to side with Fender. A telecaster is the only electric guitar I need- they do anything.
The combat would be simple. Fender just have to wait for the Gibson side to surrender and beg for a chiropractor.

Even though I can grab pretty well any Tele or Strat and make it work for me, the best Gibsons have a magic I've never found in any Fender.

Maybe it's psychological, I grew up around pre-CBS Fenders and played little else for years, but a good Byrdland, 295 or Switchmaster will stop me dead in my tracks in a way no bolted up plank ever will.

Have you played Gibson acoustics? They're horrible
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

but if they join the war, do they support the mid east of the USA and the glue on neck army - Or the bastions of the bolt on maple neck forces, reinforced by Mexican and far eastern helpers

A fender makes you sound like you. A Gibson covers up the fact you’re not a great player
A Fender makes you sound like you are playing a Fender. A Gibson makes you sound like some other cunt playing a Gibson.

    There, corrected that for you.

    Gibson for me.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I probably would have gone Tele but then the other day I plugged my 339 into a Princeton '68 and...

    Gibson.

(if I needed an actual hand to hand combat weapon - Tele without a question!)

It all depends on whether I am playing a rhythm or lead guitar part. Fender & Gibson are a match made in heaven, and should forever share the same bed  :)
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.
