Reining in the Madness (a bit) - Revising the "Wants" List

What's Hot

edited August 2018 in Guitar

Of late, I've been reflecting on the H7 stash - and where I want to take it - @Funkfingers @Bridgehouse - don't say "To the tip".

I looked back at this thread from over 3 years ago and started thinking about what had (and hadn't) changed.

While I'll always be up for quirky wierdness, there would now be certain things I'd highly prioritise (in bold italic).

NB. While I've already got (in some cases, multiple) examples of some of the stuff below, there's always room for more.

  • Out of interest, what do you do with all this stuff? Does it all get played or is it just for a collection? I’ve seen pics of your collection before and it’s unreal the amount of weird and wonderful things you’ve got, and I was just wondering if it all gets used?

    A mix of both.

Some gets rotated and played fairly frequently.

Other stuff may be long-term restoration projects, or (if impractical/unrepairable due to it's weird/esoteric nature) purely "collection only".

that is an interesting list Mr H - some items I've forgotten about - Some I've sold in the past through various guitars stores I've worked in - Some I've personally owned in the past as well, mainly Rockman, Jaydee Holigan, ADA MP1  and once gigged a Redmere Soloist, but hated it, so never again - Some I'd need to re-update myself as to what they are, but dare say will remember once seen again - Will keep an eye out as well

I must admit I’d forgotten all about the SD Curlees...
I sold a few USA guitars and basses when they came out, but hard pressed to recall if I've ever sold a used one since - vaguely recall the bass models were more accepted than the guitars

The basses are indeed highly regarded!

I’d like to try one... ;)

We keep threatening to do it - maybe I could bring a high end bass rig and we can see what they can do? ;)

    it is not that good

Weird how from an SD Curlee search it suggests that I should look at this - Czech built - never seen one before - but @HarrySeven just gone quite on this posting so either he has one and is trying to find it - Or he is touring the web to find one - Or in the bathroom, crouched on the floor

Well, reading that list of wants makes me feel sane!

    Mine is just:

    1. Any Rickenbacker bass I can afford (and probably vintage copies too).
    2. A set of Moog Taurus 1 and maybe a 12-step for my Minitaur.
    3. Another Yamaha JV-1010 and a bit of sorting out of my rack.
    4. Another Markbass 1x12 NY cab.
    5. Maybe a Les Paul.
    6. Maybe a Warwick Thumb (my ex-wife nearly bought me one pre-kids!).
    7. One or two 5-string Status headless basses.
    8. A Tube Screamer pedal (just 'cos I haven't got one).
    9. Any Rickenbacker bass parts I see (I especially need a gap-tooth tailpiece).
    10. Anything else I see that I fancy at that point in time!

    So, nothing too ambitious...
