Anyone have more than 2 of the same type of guitar?

What's Hot
As the title says, does anyone have more than 2 of the same type of guitar?

If anyone does, why?

I am on 2 S type guitars and am considering my third, with only the paint job and pickups being different, am I mad? Should I branch out? I don't gig and I suppose I don't really have any need for a third S type...

I have four Les Pauls or things very like them...

    Gibson Studio Faded T
    Epiphone Custom Pro
    LTD EC-401
    Indie Union Jack LP

I will almost certainly get more, there was one in the classifieds I was ridiculously tempted by!
You are the dreamer, and the dream...

  • I did have two Gibson Les Paul guitars until recently, a Traditional and a Studio. Sold the Studio though. I do still have an LTD EC-256 though - so still have to LP-style guitars.

If you can afford it and it will make you happy, do it!

If I won the Euro Millions I'd have every colour of every guitar I found lol

But it would genuinely only be in that fantasy scenario when I never have to think about money. Even if I was much richer than I am now, but still in the real world where money does still matter, I wouldn't personally get even 2 of the same guitar unless I was playing live to reasonably large audiences as the headline act where a change of appearance without change of tone would be a positive.

    Yup.

I have two Epiphone Plus Top Pro LPs, a 2008 and a 2015. Not only the same guitar but also the same mods. Iron Gear Tesla Shark pick ups, orange drop capacitors and new pots and the toggle switch on both. I did the honey burst one first and loved the sound so picked up the wine red one for £180 and did the same. Plenty of years between them but they both weigh 8lbs 6oz and I'd say the wine red one had a slightly brighter top end with the honey burst being a touch darker overall.

2 Tom Andersons though they are both s shape they are quite different .

    1. hollow swamp ash classic small vee neck was sss but now hss vintage type  suhr v60lp's  lollar imperial humbucker  ..( my fave no. 1 )
    2. Drop top classic bass wood on flame maple hss less vintage more modern sounding ...  .30 neck  sa1's  pickups and H3 bridge  ....

both have maple necks/boards ...  had the one 18 years and the other one 17 ish years ...   done me proud over many gigs sessions .. one will be up for grabs sortly as i want a semi hollow to go with the pipe and slippers and hung up sprurs ......

3 LPs...  But they are all very different...

The Classic (dark burst) has very hot pickups and is heavy as fuck.. Was my dream guitar from day 1.

The 2010 Standard, well as much as I love the Classic I kept getting jealous of people with flame tops plus it has vey different pickups which are Burstbucker Pros.. So I get a very different sound out of it, its also chambered. This guitar was love at first sight for me.

Then the 60s Tribute Goldtop... At £750 brand new I could hardly resist.. The P90s are amazing and its also chambered but comes in at like 7lbs (where as the Standard is more like 9) and is very fun to play.

So as I say... All Les Pauls but each is still very different.

There must be a collective noun for multiple same guitars..

    A weight of Les pauls
    A twang of teles
    A filling of PRSs

    etc..
