got the call today, she’s been on life support for the last 3 weeks and her body gave out today, lung, liver and kidney cancer and COPD. IM in Spain  at the mo and it looks like she’ll be buried tomorrow. She lives in Turkey and they don’t hang around there. I’m going on the 1st Sept. I was hoping she’d hold out until then as the docs said it could be days or months. A life long smoker and drinker who wasn’t interested in giving any of it up despite our protests as kids. Ah well what’s done is done.
So's my Dad. Last night. 8.15. Fucker ain't it?

My deepest sympathy on your loss @Jonnyburgo. My mother passed away twenty five years ago today. We still miss her and think of her a lot. You will always remember the good times you had with her.

Sorry to read this for both JB and James.

My condolences to you both. I lost my Dad nearly 2 yrs ago and you never forget but time does help heal things.

You both have memories and cling onto the good ones.

Never know what to say in situations like this, but always think that saying something helps (having been there).

Time does heal.  You never forget the person, but the pain of the loss lessens or at least isn't so front-of-mind all the time.

But until then, grieve, be sad, cry, do whatever you need to do ...  and remember that there are lots of people around you who'll give whatever support they can.

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    Condolences

My mum died when I was 26 - That is 32 years ago - Cancer and treatment for 8 years - during that time we nearly lost her twice but she pulled through - Long fight

All I can say now is she is never forgotten - memories are far more pleasant and far easier to cope with - Maybe I don't think about her everyday now, many say they do - but I think about her most days

Probably the thing I remember most is the thing I want to forget - I was with her right to the very end - The last few mins, when she was still fighting, but never made it - But I do have many happy memories as well so try and remember these and let time take its course
