2019 Gibson Les Paul Junior

What's Hot
Saw these up on GAK today. Seem quite a good price. Has anyone seen one up close?

  • Not up close yet, but I do kind of like them - the faded finish works well imo too.

prefer the look of the faded finish, the fretboard looks to light in colour against the black for me.

    Cryogenically treated frets????

I'd be all over a standard spec one at that price but shallow as it is I can't get past the awful pickguard/control layout..

Yeah I agree, The pick guard doesn't quite look right to me either. But for the money it could be worth a punt and could be fun to modify, maybe even refinish.

Like the finish, like the price.

Hate the pickguard which looks like the offspring of a P bass and a Tele

I like the guard. It’s not veryGibson, but it is a nice design in its own right.

Problem is most will prefer the traditional  model and they would sell them all at this price, or even A few hundred more.

makes you wonder if the savings from not rear routing side drilling are really worth it when it creates a harder sell you will need to discount heavily

At least it has a strap button in a more midriff-friendly position :D

Tempting. But Gibson aren't allowed to change anything on their iconic instruments. Even the pickguard.
Might be worth waiting for the inevitable blowout sales! Then you'd get a real steal.

I actually like the pickguard on it.

It's verging on being a Melody Maker. Is there any other Gibson design that places all the electrics on the pickguard? There's the ES120 but nothing else comes to mind.

  • The blue one looks great. It'd look better with a white scratchplate, but...

The brown one would look good with a tortoiseshell plate too.

Definitely worth waiting for the blow-out sales to get one for modding. (second p/up, etc)
Not much of the gear, even less idea.

As someone on here said previously, it has something of a 70s Gibson Marauder/S1 about it.

If they blow them out like the 2015 Jrs for around £300 I might be able to overlook the pickguard.

Would love to take a look under the pickguard. If it's routed like a strat with space for a neck pickup it would be great!

The scratchplates reminds me of the PRS Mira a little.
