    Pearl Jam. Neil Young.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Pearl jam, STP and Alice in Chains are my 3 favourites in that series. The Page and Plant one was pretty good as well.

Oh and i quite liked the Aha one as well :)

Pearl Jam.  Not sure the Page and Plant one counts, it seems impossible to keep a Les Paul out of Pagey’s grasp for a full set.

I've always thought nirvana's unplugged was much better than their normal stuff. It's that album that makes me like them so much.

Me too. It made me realise what a good writer he was.

The Crowded House one is very good and Neil Young doing Hurricane on the harmonium was excellent.

REM also worth a mention. Espcially for this, one of my favourite songs ever.

    Stipe's vox are amazing.

That’s so, so good. Just learned there’s a whole double cd of this stuff off the back of that, which I’m now purchasing so thanks for that :)

And this: utterly fucking beautiful song- I think I'm right in saying they're the only band who did 2 MTV sessions.

And this- which is one of the most seminal songs I've ever seen perfromed live by Stipe.

Perhaps it’s just the novelty of hearing the stripped down arrangements for the first time, but I think I like these versions better than the original songs. Also inspired me to grab my old Yamaha acoustic and Twang along so life is good :)

Didn't even realise they'd done Unplugged! I'll have to check that out.

For me, though, it's got to be Clapton, and purely because of one perfect song...

I can honestly say REM live were one of the kings of performance. Stipe was so charismatic it was untrue, and Mike Mills so beautifully musical. I so miss seeing them and I saw them maybe 10 or 12 times.

Crikey. I only saw them once, in or about 1989 at Manchester Apollo. Was so wasted I barely remember most of it... they were one of those bands I almost forgot about when they got so huge after Automatic, until was v sad when they broke up and started listening to them again. Some very very sublime moments.

  • Alice In Chains for me, quite poignant to see Layne looking so unwell though.

  • The EC one for me - things like ‘Walkin’ Blues’ show just how convincing he can be with just a Dobro.

Another vote for Nirvana, but REM is a close second.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.
