New Build - spot a theme??

Just - this morning - finished the one in the middle

They're all Ash bodies

This latest one has a Rosewood neck made (by GSP naturally) from a piece of rosewood that I'd been carefully guarding after finding it at David Dyke's wood yard many years ago!  The other Tele shape is also Rosewood, but bought from Warmoth.

Pickup is a Gibson Nighthawk unit that I bought from someone here sometime ago, thinking that it'd come in handy one day.

    Very nice! Clean and classy.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.

I'm curious, do you still have anything with a P-rails in it?

I do @WezV - but only the one now and IIRC, you played it many years ago ...

Nothing against P-Rails - just that there are loads of good pickups out there now, so why put a pickup that's pretty good at a few things into one guitar, when you could instead put pickups that are excellent at one thing into a few guitars ...
    ;)

Cool..  I like the fret marker positions on the latest one..  Good stuff.   There is something nice about a clean minimal look like that.. Sorta like a LP Junior.

I was thinking it would make a good comparison video.

1 guitar with multiple voices Vs 3 similar guitars with different pickups

Cheers @Rabs - that's where I put the fret markers on *my* builds - check the Yam 2000 inspired build that I posted in response to Wez's Q.

    And like this ...

Lovely builds @TTony ; ... your tapped P90 won't be long ... just clearing my backlog.

My initial thought @WezV was how could you make that valid.  Given all the other influences on tone/sound, how could you eliminate those influences in a comparison of 4 separate guitars?

My second thought was that I guess you could use a swimming pool rout style build and put the different p'ups on different scratch plates ...

    Cheers Ash @TheGuitarWeasel ;

2 of those 3 have got your work in them.  The original Tele is actually one of my favourite guitars (it's what I've used at the jam sessions).  It's got an overwound Diesel Tap unit in there, which I'd originally intended to "enhance" with some onboard electronics (hence the big cavity cover).  But then I decided that the p'up didn't need *any* enhancement - it does everything all by itself.

Don't rush on the P90 conversion - I've got something else in dogear format that I'm going to put into the LP Jr, so I might not need the conversion work.  Need to work out what I'm going to build next.
