Nothing against P-Rails - just that there are loads of good pickups out there now, so why put a pickup that's pretty good at a few things into one guitar, when you could instead put pickups that are excellent at one thing into a few guitars ...

My initial thought @WezV was how could you make that valid. Given all the other influences on tone/sound, how could you eliminate those influences in a comparison of 4 separate guitars?
My second thought was that I guess you could use a swimming pool rout style build and put the different p'ups on different scratch plates ...
I really like that... Its giving me ideas

2 of those 3 have got your work in them. The original Tele is actually one of my favourite guitars (it's what I've used at the jam sessions). It's got an overwound Diesel Tap unit in there, which I'd originally intended to "enhance" with some onboard electronics (hence the big cavity cover). But then I decided that the p'up didn't need *any* enhancement - it does everything all by itself.
Don't rush on the P90 conversion - I've got something else in dogear format that I'm going to put into the LP Jr, so I might not need the conversion work. Need to work out what I'm going to build next.

I'll get me coat....
