Your year in gear, 2018

What's Hot
Tis the season, which means it's the time for reflection. What arrived? What left? What surprised you? How do you feel about all of it?

Last year's thread for reference... http://thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/119974/year-in-gear-2017/

For me, I bought an ES-330, a set of Mojo pickups for my CS-336, and a handful of pedals - Walrus Monuments Trem, Arc FX Klone, vintage MXR Distortion+ and a Gamechanger Plasma. All are fantastic bits of gear, but I suspect I'll switch the 330 for a Les Paul at some point in 2019.

Main surprise was the ridiculous availability of great gear in my trip to Nashville. Amazing vintage stuff on the walls of every shop just begging to be picked up and played. I'd love to go back.

    From what I can remember............

Fender Baja Telecaster (50s / Blonde) and PRS SE Chris Robertson single cut.  An Alto TS210 powered cab for monitoring, an 2 tier amp stand and, I think, that's about the lot.  Santa's bringing me a Zoom L-12 Livetrak so that I can record the band in the rehearsal room but, other than that, a quiet year.

Interesting purchase was a titanium plectrum which I now use all the time

    It's all a blur!
I sold my 100w Katana as it just wasn't cutting it live, and I bought a pair of JBL Eon One line array PA systems, and a Tech21 Flyrig for when I need to go direct. It works extremely well.

I bought a new Bonamassa Firebird, modded it then sold it at a huge loss, then part-exed a load of old stuff I hadn't used for years for a new HRD IV.

I should have bought an HRD years ago, it's a popular gigging amp for a reason.

Another thing I did which I should've done years before is buy a decent Gibson acoustic, it's become the only guitar I grab for pure pleasure rather than work.

I got rid of a couple of Jet City amps, keeping only my original, favourite 20H.

I gave away three more ex-gigging guitars, they'd recouped their cost many times over and went to people who could barely afford to pay their rent, let alone buy guitars.

Oh and I just bought an Epi Explorer off Grungebob, which I'm looking forward to very much.

The long term loan of a 2204 after I'd repaired it for a friend inspired my to dig out my old Drivemaster as a more portable approximation, and I've since bought a spare plus a Jackhammer for reliving my youth.

Oh, and a Sonicake Twiggy Blues, which is a kind of rootsy-sounding Flyrig, except it's only £56.

    There's probably more, but I can't remember!

Re-bought a Supa-trem cause I missed the one I had (that I sold to a guy that was also buying it for the second time after a sale regret) and also bought a Mosky Silver Horse klone that I kept.
Had a MP LGW that I didn't bound with and a Source Audio Aftershock that I also sold (second time owning this pedal).
    I think that's about it.

Didn't buy any guitars. Almost bought an Epi LP Custom but when I borrowed one I didn't get on with it.

Bought and sold a few drive pedals but pretty much ended up going back to the same few I've been using for years. Guitar has stayed pretty similar too though I've just put new pickups in it and wish I'd tried these ones years ago!

Amp-wise had to sell my Jubilee to cover wedding bills. Was kindly gifted a Line 6 spider which I used for about a month before getting a cracking deal on a Jubilee combo again!
