    Thanks @Bodhi

Apparently some people have other opinions - I'm sure I recognise this dealer on ebay. Had to laugh and post his offer on here.
The R9 has noooo market value, as it has no COA plus Gibson are bankrupt.

  • If it has no market value why is he willing to pay £2,200?

Can you not get a COA from Gibson?

I presume that people are LOLing because the guitar is under-priced.

Gibson don't reissue coa unfortunately, whereas Fender so.

This would have been the A4 coa and I can def understand those being lost.

We've had the debate on the forum before about the value (or not) of a coa. I find the coa a nice to have and a great way to get a slightly cheaper original guitar if it doesn't have one.
And remember, you don't play a coa.

It's a shame that the site (ebay or Reverb or wherever) doesn't have a button below the 'Decline' option which invites the person making the offer to "Go and boil your ball-bag"

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

Yeah I agree the COA shouldn’t be a major issue. After all people pay a lot more for other guitars that don’t come with COAs - vintage guitars anyone?

    He's contacted me again -

He has five ebay shops, buys for London guitar shops and his offer will only go down.

Gibson are bankrupt, were bought by someone else and therefore all their guitars are worth less. Mine has no value at all and will get no interest.

    You've got to laugh!

What a twitsticle.  Tell him you've actually found the COA and see how much it's worth to him, just for giggles?

This is what puts me off buying and selling lately.

I know it’s a game but it gets tiring especially with dealers as they’re the worst - when they’re buying it’s “this colour’s hard to sell, that mark looks like a neck break, looks like a refinish blah, blah, blah.” Of course when they’re selling those same issues are of no consequence and if it wasn’t for them anyway the guitar would be “twice the price”. It’s boring.

Image having to do that everyday just to earn your living. There are a few dealers that are notable exceptions of course but they’re few and far between.

These guys aren't proper dealers - they're just operating out of their bedrooms trying to flip guitars for a few hundred quid.
