Yes that bridge has been changed.
    Which bridge?
In the pic.  I should more correctly say bridge saddles and screws.  The originals are threaded with hex screws.

I think we are talking at cross purposes and probably agree with one another (not sure which pics you are referring too).  =)

The last picture (with the serial number obscured) shows compensated brass saddles, which are not correct for either an original '62 or a MIJ '85.

They're on a 62 Custom Shop.  Would brass be the correct material for a 62 rather than threaded rod?

I think the light makes it look worse than it is.

    No.

The very first Broadcasters were steel.
    Brass from 1950 to 1954
Plain steel from 1954 to 1958
Threaded steel from 1958 to 1968
Steel with two string grooves from 1968 onwards

(From A.R Duchossoir's The Fender Telecaster)

Brass on anything other than an early 50s one is a modern aberration for those people who like that hideous whiny/clangy Roy Buchanan sound :).

50s neck or 60s neck ? - probably irrelevant pricewise, but good to know.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

    Ha soz  :3

I always think teles look unfinished with the mismatched pickups.

No wonder they put a cover over them!  :)

What a coincidence! Along with the guitar, in the case, would you believe it that very book was included...!
