Perfect. I'll get the respirator and matika bo5041. I'm having little luck with abrasive discs. Do they have to be the velcro type? Nothing is coming up from DeWalt.

The Makita was so effective I didn't really feel the need of the respirator. Still, it was comfortable and I will always wear one in the future. These lungs have suffered enough.

The 80 grit was too light for the work. 40 would've done the trick. I had to keep scraping off the accumulated dried glue from the discs. In the end I got Makita branded ones. The 80 and 120 did the trick in the end. I'm not quite sure what application 240 or 320 grit could be. Perhaps on guitar necks?

I great bit of kit, discs are not cheap though, and cheap discs are not any good!

It deals with most things really well.

I usually hand sand afterwards to round off rounded bits and get nice and smooth.

@robgilmo mine is the earlier version and great. Do you think 40 grit would’ve been better? I’m going to work on a combo that has some sticky glue in places. Should I do those parts with a blade amp instead?

It was either 80 or 120 that I used, 40 would just rip lumps out of it, You just want to remove glue, not any of the wood, so the finer the paper the better. Its only glue at the end of the day. You could buy a few sheets of each, start with the finest, if it works there is no need to go coarser.

I think the 47 year old glue on the cab was particularly robust or the wood for that matter. The finish is almost marble like.

That means its quite hard, so more easily sanded than soft glue.
