@Bellycaster Oh wow! I've never seen a Marshall using the "fip-top" technology from the Ampeg Portaflex before!

Friend of mine has one. I have to say it really does sound pretty decent (and certainly far better than I'd expect for a measly £160 or so).
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

Stop using a combo - they might save space in the car, but they're the least-portable way to do guitar amplification.

Wise words - have a wiz.  If I could fold back time, I'd have bought an AD120VTH head and AD212 cab instead of my AD120VTX combo.  Yes, the combo is 'only' 58lbs, whilst the AD120VTH is 40lbs and the AD212 cab is 43 lbs ie 83lbs in total.  But the point is I can no longer carry 58lbs in one solid mass, whereas I could carry the head & cab separately.  That extra 15-18lbs may not seem much when you're young & healthy, but when you're older with a bad back it's all the difference in the world!

But I am where I am and have compromised now by not using an amp anymore, just my Tonelab LE or SE straight through the PA.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Buy my Boss Katana. They sound like shit, but after a week or two, you won't mind carrying a heavy amp.

Just consider it as a good workout. Do it more often and it will become easier. Getting old isn't nice, but if you stop doing things because they are difficult, everything just becomes more difficult. Daytime telly here you come.....
