  • I saw this on another site and couldn't bring myself to post it here as I was such a DLR/VH fan back in the day.

God it sucks seeing your heroes get old and lose their shine.

this sits somewhere worse than a bad covers band, but marginally better than a properly pissed up old bloke doing karaoke without knowing the words.

‘Bout time Dave dropped the “music” and concentrated on stand-up comedy.

The drumming is a bit sloppy too.

I`ve lost my faith in VH some time ago. The first album I ever bought was 5150 and EVH is the reason I picked up guitar. I knew all the records inside out, and loved each and every iteration of VH - even VH3!!!!!!!

But Dave has become a parody, the Van Halens no longer want to play it seems (possibly health related, but we can`t be using that excuse as the only reason they`ve been so inactive for so long). VHND.com is desperately trying to keep band News going when there simply isn`t any. It`s over...........

On the plus side, our band recently added `Why Can`t This Be Love` which was the video on top of the pops that made a 13 yr old me want a guitar. I`d shied away from playing that for many years as we don`t have keys, but the others made me do it after seeing a Sammy Hager cover with Vic covering the keys parts - actually works really well.

The one thing I would like to see from Dave is an Eat em and Smile band reunion tour - almost happened for one date recently at the ultimate jam night in LA but was stopped - but in watching this you can understand that it may not be an appealing proposition to Via and Sheehan........

If I found out Bobby Davro became their lead singer, I'd be an unhappy VH fan too.

Yeah. To fuel the VH merch scam they have going.

Anyway, I'm checking out a VH cover band later. \m/

  • 65 and still going for it... I pray there is a monitoring issue to blame, hence the monologuing.

I was last night watching Paul Di’Anno singing (badly) in a wheelchair. It was still better than this. And Blaze Bayley.

  • It's not the greatest example of DLR that ever appeared on video, is it? I did like his opening line of "I think we all know each other" though

If they don't die as a result of the Rock n Roll lifestyle, rockstars are know to age and get old.  Same as the rest of us do.

Guitars generally get better with age, vocalists - not so much.

DLR moved like something out of The Woodentops, like strings were attached to his shoulders and his torso and neck were fixed in one position.
