NGD: Sunglasses needed....back to the 80s

What's Hot

edited January 2020 in Guitar
I think i'm one of the first people to get one of these and its erm...far brighter than I thought! I've just joined a hair metal tribute band, so I thought it was a necessity. At least that's what I told the Mrs! It's the guitar version of those Fat Willy's Surf Shack car stickers people had back in the day.

It's actually really bloody good. It's Chinese, and expensive for a Chinese guitar at £1127....but it beats my Music Man at its own game. It has my name on the headstock too, so a no brainer....

    That is extraordinarily tasteless.

... in the best possible way! :D

Personally I wouldn't be seen dead playing one, any more than I would have in 1987, but it's absolutely perfect for what you're doing.

However you have the wrong amp - you need a 160W Crate solid-state combo, or a KMD, or something... chunky plastic corners, multi-coloured knobs etc. The Victory is far too conservative :).

Speaking with authority as the previous owner of a 160W tranny Crate I can conclusively say that you don't.  Need one, that is.

That Jackson looks a bit like a 'Tranny' in the same D Snider kind of subtle, all colours at once explosion in make-up factory.

Wow! That's an eyeful of fun.  I'll bet there aren't many sounds that you can't get out of it.
How does the back of the neck feel?
    Happy NGD.

The back of the neck is glossy, but its not sticky. The Soloist neck profile is about perfect for me, so it feels really comfortable. The fretboard is seemlingly lightly oiled so it feels worn in right out the box

  • I absolutely love that, HNGD! I love my Soloist, even though it's only a cheapo Indonesian one it plays fantastically well.

When @hollywoodrox sees it he's going to jizz in his pants :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

I'd never buy one of those in a million years, but it looks absolutely fantastic.

And completely ignoring the rainbow crackle finish (for a moment), I really like the fact it's a maple board and set neck.

Which Duncan models are the pickups?
