The second story is the Chinese virus that could potentially become a global pandemic is discovered to be infectious even during its incubation period, making it even harder to control...

Their main headline is usually the freshest news, it doesn’t mean it’ll be at the top again tomorrow. I don’t think the fact that they’re putting this story above the Coronavirus story means it’s any more or less important.

I thought this was going to be reference to the BBC reporting on Kobe's death and showing a picture of a completely different basketball player in the 10pm news. 

It is just what's fresh in the news, the Corinavirus story is going to run for a long time so isn't likely to be the lead story every day.

I had a whole reply typed out but I couldn’t be arsed to explain it. So I’ve deleted it. 

In short - if you can’t understand why one of the greatest basketball players of all time, a role model to millions and notable personality shouldn’t get a brief headline when he passes away in extremely tragic circumstances then I suggest that you are in the minority. Now stop being an argumentative twunt and show some fucking respect.

such a tragic death is deserving of the spotlight , a man of color who has made a success of himself and been  inspirational to lots of youngsters is suddenly taken from us , even if we on our small island have not heard of him does it make it any less sorrowful. 

How many people have heard of stevie Ray Vaughn outside of the blues rock/guitar community 
he too died in a helicopter crash  and if such news networks were so prevalent at the time ,how many people would question the significance of a news flash or header at the time  over whatever other big story was available at the time.

this basketball player though I would imagine is familiar to a larger number of people and would warrant equal attention to say the death of Lennon or Hendrix or Brian Jones who I am sure people would not deny  a header/lead on any network /newspaper

Have to admit, ive never heard of him either, im not a sporty type, but if Emp wants to read ''news'' that isnt what the masses want to read (not that anyone wanted to read that, but you know what I mean), more what they need to be told, then the BBC isnt that.
Its like buying a fucking trifle then complaining that there is cream in it.

He’s a household name. Even if you have a mild interest in sport most people know about him.
