Always thought the SD-1 sounded much better than people often give it credit for. On the hunt for a cheap one right now.

Boss OD-1. Bought it in a shop in Chester when I was 15, for £22. Wasn’t keen on it at the time because there wasn’t enough distortion but it’s the only bit of gear that’s endured - guitars and amps come and go but I’ve always plugged into that little yellow pedal.

To be honest for boosting a dirty amp just a plain old tubescreamer. Or a Klon type. For higher gain into a cleaner amp then it’s a Turbo Rat, stacked with the tubescreamer boosting it.
