He'd never be held up as a great singer, but I like Joe Walsh's voice – it's very him, if that makes sense. Bags of personality.
Dave Edmunds would fit here too

    Devin Townsend

EDIT: I guess Devy is known equally as a singer/frontman/guitarist though so, in case he doesn’t count, I’ll go for Jerry Cantrell.

Bernie Marsden has a very good voice.  I doubt we'll ever agree on the OP's question of who is 'the best' singer though.

  • Another vote for Mr Cray . Classic soul pipes that could have come straight from the 60s

I don't think there are many Kansas fans on the FB, but their bassist Billy Greer definitely falls into the "surprisingly good" category.

In his side project Seventh Key he sings lead, with Terry Brock - no slouch as a lead vocalist - on second guitar and backing vocals.

I’ve always reckoned that Clapton is a far better singer than he’s given credit for.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I agree re Robert Cray. I saw a gig on TV where he sang a few Otis Redding songs and it wasn't a mismatch.

I'll add Peter Frampton.. his singing wasn't the main feature when he was in Humble Pie. Some great vocals from him on their records though.
