Don't know about what follows, but this was a bit less...  Lots of stuff - but no banter?

It occurred to me, while watching today's episode, that Steve Rogers is how America sees itself, but John Walker is how the rest of the world sees America.

    I wonder if that's deliberate.

Or borrow a login. There’s always someone you know who isn’t using all of their 4.
    I definitely don’t do this.

    I'm sure it is.

I'm also convinced every tiny detail is planned meticulously - the way Walker's helmet is just fractional too big, giving a sense of unease while conveying a visual metaphor that the role is too big for the man underneath. And the way the end of ep4 played out is exactly the same move Steve made to end the fight at the end of Civil War, only Steve chose not to make a killing blow.

Most of all I'm just really enjoying the attempt to show that the "bad guys" have a really clear motivation and really aren't bad guys, just desperate people who see no other option.

Yep. I don't understand what use it'll be, though, 'cos it's plainly made of the wrong metal.

I absolutely didn’t use a hooky Chinese website, and a tonne of ad blockers and privacy tools.
    Would never do that.

Very deliberate, though I'd put it more as two sides of the same coin.

Reminds me of a real story in an article I read about the A-10.  An A-10 pilot over Afghanistan was ordered to fire on a building.  The pilot flew over low, took no fire and reported no sign of any hostiles.  He therefore refused to fire.

His commander, fully aware the pilot was within his rights to refuse what he considered an illegal order, instead ordered a high-flying B1B heavy bomber to destroy the building, which it did with a LGB.

It killed a farmer, his wife, and his two children.  The A-10 pilot, by stopping, thinking and considering that unleashing the terrible destructive power on his aircraft might kill innocent people, was correct.

I think that's what's brilliant about the MCU is that they now have the confidence to run with what they started in Civil War - all this super-powered destruction (like the US military's super-powered destruction) however well-intentioned, has horrific collateral casualties, and if you don't address that you become as bad as the terrorists.

The show is quite clear, the terrorists are bad, but they have a very legitimate beef, and you can't resolve the problems without acknowledging that.

My point is...I really hope they don't show it as behaving the same way as the original. As Spidey put it, "that thing doesn't obey the laws of physics".
