If I were to write my ideal gigging guitar spec, it wouldn’t be far off this:
Mini hums for the right balance of zing and chunk
Bass cut for thinner sounds when you want them.
24.75” scale
12” radius
Middle pickup for occasional quacky sounds
Default switching is Tele-style 3-way
Usable trem that stays in tune (roller bridge helps!)
Plays amazingly well right out of the box
Lightweight
The only thing I’m going to change is the middle pickup wiring. Right now it has its own volume knob and it doesn’t go through the bass-cut circuit. Both of those make it hard to use when you want to dip into Strat quack territory.
