sorry about that (and the awful pics)
I been playing it through my main rig with various gain pedals and it can handle med to high-ish gain well and no wolf notes or microphony. My amp is a PRS MT-15 and so you get the picture.
I really like their own brand bridge pickup (Roswell) and the sound of that particular position and it's not harsh or ice picky. On the basis of it so far, I think I could easily cope with it being an Esquire set up and I've been playing some Rush (Limelight, Big Money), Various Police, Crowded House, Tom Petty, Steely Dan, Squeeze and even Boys of Summer and it was well suited to those.
I do like the bridge and middle position, too, but I'm undecided on the sound of the neck position on its own and I've heard spankier, more open ones before, like the Twisted Tele pickup. Any other suggestions? It's quite dark on clean sounds and would probably be great for jazz but it isn't really me. However, with gain, it does a very nice Gary Moore/Santana sound (think Parisienne Walkways/Europa) and it's fine. That may be the one thing I replace but in the context of the guitar, it's working ok and it's more to suit me and at the moment, I don't feel the need to invest too much in it but let's see as it's a solid base for pimping.
I need to bring the gauge down from 10-46 to 9.5 or 9-46 and I need my repairer to give it a bit of a set up but I'm really pleased with this and the price point is ridiculous. I have just seen the Jet stuff and that's getting a lot of attention, too, and prices are low and the spec is decent. I'm also a big fan of Sire (basses and own 2) but I haven't tried their actual guitars to see what a jump of a couple of hundred pounds brings to the table but the HB gets a thumbs up from me.
It is not the money,I have a lot more expensive guitars and it plays as well as any of them.well done H.B.
no idea but I hope it's not as ridiculous as Mick Taylor's tweaks/overhaul of his new Fender Jason Isbell on TPS.
I'm just interested to see what 'they think' might need changing or adjusting but ultimately, it's up to us owners to decide for ourselves
I got one too, very nice:
