Next is "Risingson", which was the first single from the album, well before the album itself was released, and reached number 11 on the UK singles chart. It contains a sample from "I Found A Reason" by The Velvet Underground. (Loaded is a candidate for a future listening party, I feel)

Here's my music related coaster (with nice cup of tea next to it)

Track number 3 is "Teardrop" and features Elizabeth Frazer (Cocteau Twins) on vocals, who also wrote the lyrics - either written or recorded in part on the same day that Fraser learned that Jeff Buckley (with whom she had had a relationship) had drowned. It is probably the most well-known Massive Attack song, as it was used as the theme music for the TV drama House. It's also the only Massive Attack single to reach the UK top 10.

For me, this is about as pop as Massive Attack get, and I love love love it. Such an incredible melody, performance by Liz Fraser and production.

There's reminders of "Protection", that Massive Attack did with Tracey Thorn, which is also excellent, but this is better.

I never thought about that before but possibly that's one of the reasons I like Goldfrapp - the Cocteau Twins 80s albums were the soundtrack to my student life

With respect, Shara Nelson didn't really exist outside of Blue Lines...so I don't think of her excellent contribution as a cameo.

100th Window features Sinead...which is obviously mega-intense rather than poppy.
