Q1: It's my nickname IRL, it comes from my surname.
Q2: Cambridgeshire, Ely to be precise.
Q3: Just to continue gigging and writing music, in one way, shape or form. Also to never stop feeling like I'm progressing as a guitar player.
Q4: Probably my Carvin X100B or Ibanez RG1570.
Q5: Really? Just one? Well off the top of my head I'll go with Blind Guardian - The Curse of Feanor.
Welcome Cathan - good to have you with us.
And spreading the word to others would be hugely appreciated
(btw - who's building the replica LP for you?)
Q1: My name is Stuart. I met another Stuart over a decade ago and we became Friday pint buddies. People were getting confused by us having the same name so I decided I should be SuperiorStu (I am the older one) and he should be InferiorStu. That lasted about a week! He came up with DiscoStu for me (after the Simpsons character) and I came up with JuniorStu for him cos he's younger. Everyone calls us Disco and Junior now and I love it.
Q2: Born and bred in Elgin, Moray.
Q3: I'd love to get through a whole song without cocking up. I'd like to conquer stage fright. I'd like to be comfortable writing lyrics so that I could actually get a song finished.
Q4: I love my Mirrortop electric as it was the first one I built. I'll never let it go. My Stonebridge acoustic is pretty special too as I bought it to mark my recovery from brain surgery.
Q5: Ah, the song question. It changes with my mood but one I always come back to is 'Paranoid Android' by Radiohead.
I used to hate being called Clare Bear by everyone when I was younger, but decided I'd take control of it when I joined MR.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
Banbury, Oxfordshire
Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
To one day right enough songs for an album....even if its a crappy album!
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
Epiphine SG
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi
Played guitar since teens, bands with friends and so on. Lost track of playing buddies through moving around the country for work.
Q1: Where did you username come from?
It's what I get to listen to my guitars through - the joy of babies.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
Brizzle, the land of eternal rain.
Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
To stop playing with myself...
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
My White/Gold Strat partscaster.
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Deep Purple's Lazy, the Made in Japan version - it has a bit of just about everything, with the enigma of how a Major can sound that good. And I've still not got the riff right after all these years...
1. it is my name
2. South London
3. to make myself as attractive as I think I am whilst maintaining my humility and a sense of dignity
4. 1989 Yamaha MSG Standard - auto corrects my sloppy playing if I promise to change the strings on a regular basis
5. Dock of the Bay
Q1: Where did you username come from?
the little foam guy from the 80's BBC Educational show 'Look and Read'.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
I'm from the North East - but living in Switzerland at the moment.
Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
To be able good enough to play improv with others without being shit.
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
Probably my G&L Tele.
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
This changes all the time, but I really liked the soundtrack from the movie 'Into the Wild', so I'm going to say Eddie Vedder - Guaranteed. Maybe in five years it will be something else.
2. Silly Suffolk. Although it often feels like the wrong planet. BTW 'Silly' comes from the Anglo-Saxon saelig which roughly translates as 'blessed'.
3. Once upon a time it was to have an EllPee out with my name on the cover, my own music & playing in the grooves. These days it seems hard enough just to put a band together (well, damn near impossible tbh) so I'd settle for an electric band with a decent rhythm section, with which I could play music that I find tolerable.
4. Probably my LP Std. Yes I know my SG2000 is more versatile and has better high fret access but I've had the Lester for 30 years and its an old friend.
5. Music Inspired by The Snow Goose (Camel). Has many themes within it but plays like 1 track from the start of side A to the end of side B.
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself
Hi from John_A, thanks to Chris Owen for pointing me at the forum
Q1: Where did you username come from? I'll leav you to work that one out

Q3: What's your main musical ambition? Just to enjoy playing, maybe play a bit more
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? A Baccus Strat

Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? There is no way to choose but one!
Q1: Dave being my actual name, the Rock n Roll part was coined by a colleague of a mate of mine. I had long hair at the time so he christened me "Rock n Roll Dave". It's never helped me to get a mortgage or a good table in a restaurant.
Q2: Birmingham, England.
Q3: To write songs. Good ones.
Q4: Probably my Les Paul Studio
Q5: What, ever?! Sheesh...There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths.
Hi folks! Having been invited by stickyfiddle over on the guitars.co.uk forum, I thought I'd better join up here, it looks like a great place. Just to answer the suggested questions...
Q1: Where did you username come from? I was born in Cleethorpes, known by locals as "Meggies" so I just changed the spelling a bit for my username.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you? I'm in Grimsby (next to Cleethorpes) at the mouth of the Humber estury, on the east coast of the UK
Q3: What's your main musical ambition? To be a really, really, really good jazz guitarist.
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? My 1980 Ibanez Joe Pass model archtop jazz guitar:
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
That is so tough it's ridiculous, but I will say that my favourite guitar track is Wes Montgomery with the Wynton Kelly Trio, playing "No Blues" off the "Smokin' At The Half Note" album.
What else can I say about me - well, I'm kind of into guitar-modding and parts building, although I now have too many guitars already, and have run out of guitars to mod... I do have a parts-build currently on the go though, with my own body design, so will try to get something posted about that. I (attempt to) play jazz guitar, and play in a few local groups, also the occasional bit of classical guitar, but I also enjoy other guitar styles very much, and just the whole guitar scene in general. I keen on the sport of archery as well, in case there are any other archers on here.
Hello, my name in the real world is Steve. I'm 48, used to play regularly in a band back in the 90s but live gigs have been very occasional since then. These days, I rarely ever play through a 'proper' amp (and never at 'proper' volume) - I have a small home studio set up and play DI'd into a desk/monitors set-up at neighbour friendly volumes (i.e. pretty quiet). I do a lot of looping and ambient guitar but I'm not averse to a good old-fashioned guitar solo.
Q1: Where did you username come from? I've only recently upgraded from an archaic Windows 98 computer that I dubbed the 'Steam Abacus' due to it's limitations as a music production machine. It's become the name I use for my web presence.
Q2: Where in the world/country are you? South London, innit!
Q3: What's your main musical ambition? I don't really have much 'ambition'. I'd like to play live more regularly, but dodgy pub gigs don't really appeal to me (done too many in the past)
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? My Line6 DL4 looper - I sold a sitar (that I couldn't get round to learning to play properly) in order to buy the DL4 and I've never regretted it. I've always been a fan of Robert Fripp's soundscapes and the DL4 has allowed me to explore similar territory.
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Impossible to answer, really - of the top of my head, I'll go for some Zappa. Black Napkins, maybe?
Q1: Where did you username come from? - A random name generator!
Q2: Where in the world/country are you? Good old sunny Manchester
Q3: What's your main musical ambition? To learn to play! I never really had any aspirations to play in public, but who knows, if i improve i may give it a go.
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? At the moment, it has to be the Learn and Master guitar course i picked up recently! If you mean guitar, it'll be my Crafter GAE 15 electro-acoustic
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Live Forever by Oasis
