Well I played this MIJ yesterday. Average pickups, shitty pots and an action you could drive a bus under (AND incredibly annoying cover plates) but the vibe was awesome. I didn't buy it because bigger things are afoot

FYI I also played an American Vintage which was really plasticky feeling and honestly quite dull.

A solid F bass with 900 year old flats on is a glorious thing indeed.
    Yeah 100%

Though I caught myself in the car earlier listening to Like A Prayer and thinking about trebly sloppy nonsense with  vaguely positive emotions. I think I may be becoming... a bass player...
I wish my bass player would become a bass player

Good spot! I played through the bass one. Absolutely fantastic sounding amp.

I feel the same way about guitarists... He showed up with a full-fat White Falcon yesterday. Still can't get the intro to Summer of 69 right...

I have now GASed. It's gonna be a long few days waiting but it's a good one.

And I'm also 100% going to keep using the P a lot as I keep getting compliments from other bass players D This weekend it was a guy who came to our "backstage" area to have a chat. He couldn't believe I had flats on it; I still don't understand why everyone doesn't use them! (this is something I am of course massively proud of as I've literally only done a handful of gigs on bass so far..!)

If it isn't a Stingray you owe me a chunky Kitkat.

I’m on TIs on the P. I have zero benchmarks but they sound lovely.

    It's a good combination.

After all - Pino can't be wrong!

    I already said chunky!

I'd be very OK with it being a caramel chunky.

I've love one of the new Stingray specials. They started off at 7.5lb ish, but as the preferred ash has supply problems in the USA due to an insect infestation EBMM are using other hardwoods and the weight has gone back up to what it was on the older models.

And the prices have gone completely mental too.

One day the required factors of having the money available and there being a sub 7.5lb bass available will happen at the same time. I hope.

Ooh, I didn’t even know he used them. Well that makes a lot of sense. A bit more toppy and less “flat” than LaBellas, iirc from internet reading. All I can say is they sound great

Hehe, I may have had a wine… Consider yourself owed. Maybe a Stingray next time, or if UPS manage to royally fuck this up..

The John Mayer Trio live CD is all Pino with Ti flats and a P bass. And a little bit of octave pedal here and there.

You don't really owe me a Stingray, and it's OK if you buy a bass that isn't a chunky Kitkat.

I had a week. Not a bad week, but a lot of it, and that does make me a bit bitey, sorry.

    Enjoy your new thud-stick.
