^ Very true, but that that wasn't the particular point I was highlighting.

When you can no longer get it, Music Nomad String Fuel is an alternative.

I find it hard to believe that guitarists would complain about a small change

  • I used it 20 years ago, but change strings every week (usually 3 gigs) so have no use for it.

Not in a judgey way, but I didn’t know anyone still used the stuff.

I remember trying it for a while when I was first into guitar, but I found just cleaning the strings with kitchen roll was as easy and added the same value.

Nice to know where not all the same!

Great stuff & I wouldn't be without it.  Literally does what it says on the tin!  :) I've used fast fret since I had two tins given to me some 28 yrs ago - one dried out, the other is still going strong! I bought a 'new' one 18 mths ago so that I still have two.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

  • Bassist in my band's a big fan of Fast Fret - always offering it around like a packet of jelly babies or a spliff. Never seen anybody take up the offer.  I just wipe my strings off with a dry cloth after playing - not really into the slimy feel.

I’ve still got my tin and on the very odd occasions I’ve needed a new one have just used my tin. Think my current one is at least 15 years old and still going strong.

Have always felt that it made the strings feel like I’d just had a large bargain bucket from kfc. But in a good way.

Funnily enough I always wipe down my strings with jelly babies or a spliff.

I tried it once back in the 80s and thought "wtf is this shit?"  - I think I'm the only person on planet earth who detests the stuff.
Like Ash, the shop I worked in sold loads of it to folks and I still to this day don't understand why.

Each to their own, and all that.

Ha, no. Just as well as I've since done a stock take and my guitar count has reached critical levels. I need to rationalise

I find it really bizarre that you can tell people these things and they just ignore and carry on buying it.
Some sort of weird guitarist denial syndrome.

Nope, I'm totally with you. I've always hated the feel of the stuff. We're obviously in a minority though!

  • Anybody else think this was about the death of Phil 'Fast Fret' McCavity?  Guitar legend.

Listen to this majestical lead.  His face at 23m 17s tells you he knows he's nailing it.
