Reading the testimonials on the website, it feels like a windup.

    http://richenergy.com/testimonials/

    And via Companycheck:

    https://companycheck.co.uk/company/09791667/RICH-ENERGY-LIMITED/financials

So it's a company with shit financials, laughable online presence, a CEO who seemingly has his LinkedIn articles written by a congenital idiot, and a product base I've never seen for sale anywhere but you can buy them for £40 on a website in a nice gift box.

Next week: Birds Eye buy out Ferrari.
Totally agree.  The website has a very odd feel about it and those testimonials are very dodgy.  The whole thing feels like an elaborate hoax, or cover for something else.  But why go to the hassle?

As things go, and in corporate language, I'm afraid they haven't got two halfpennies to rub together. Where the fuck they're going to get £200 million to shore McLaren up is beyond me.

Not sure. F1/Force India would have stamped on this rumour if it were a wind up or not have traction. They could simply be a front for someone, or something else.

Simple: PR. It's got people talking about Rich Energy. Any publicity is good publicity...

Everything about Rich Energy screams 'on the cheap'. After going through the Facebook connections, I'm not seeing anything that suggests serious money. That is reinforced when you see the background of their former director and the mobile disco operated by the son of the same ex-director...

    http://richentertainment.org/news/

Of the CEO, William Storey, he has a decent record in bugger all.

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/officers/x4QoEwFE8l_CXRukeifBf35z-vs/appointments

Of those companies, Danielistyle Limited is dissolved but the website is still going. Like Rich Energy, the brand utilises a strong boxing connection.

    https://danielistyle.com/content/category/3-ambassadors

If it smells like bullshit, then it generally is bullshit. Looking at the Rich Energy website, it does make one feel like they're the type of company who would claim to have won the BIPP Amateur Photographer of the Year Award for six years running...

I'd love to hear more about that. The whole Gizmondo/Eriksson saga is like something on HBO in the evening.

You can't go on Companies House. Bugger all info and you don't know about connections overseas. My son ran a finance company for a guy worth £500 million (all made from property). Check him out at Companies House and you'd get bugger all. Money was moved around and 'laundered' through offshore companies and on paper there was a lot of debt. He built luxury houses.

I'm not going on Companies House alone as I've already said. If this all does happen then it will be money funneled around and all the rest. I quite agree with you there. That Storey has connections overseas is patently obvious when you go through his boxing management career and the repetition of Golovkin as a brand ambassador over two different companies.

For now, I'm simply going to laugh at Rich Energy and the bullshit that pops out. For example the CEO's article on LinkedIn from late 2016:

"Very pleased to announce that William Storey Management have agreed a multi year partnership in Formula One with a world leading brand who have exclusively commissioned us to be their bridge into the sport and advise on ongoing activations and maximising media value within the world of elite motor racing. Formula One has been the nadir of sports branding ever since Bernie Ecclestone took commercial control in the early 80's and we are delighted to be continuing our association within this arena and are very confident that with new owners Liberty Media at the helm the sport will go from strength to strength internationally with particular emphasis on strong commercial revenue increases in the US."

"The nadir of sports branding" - as opposed to the nadir of dictionary usage.

Means nothing. The registered office is often where the external accountants are based.

Obvious that if they get £200 million its coming from East of Berlin ... has a McMafia smell about it. Bernie would have approved ...

The key phrase in the story is "A consortium headed by Rich Energy is in talks to buy Force India", which strongly suggests to me that the financing is coming from elsewhere. Still, I've never heard of Rich Energy, so the whole thing looks extremely dubious.

Agreed, it may mean nothing, but now go and have a look at Red Bull's registered office, and see if you can spot the difference.

    It's at 155-171 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2JP

Red Bull is a global brand. I worked for a £500 million IT group. The registered office was in a rundown office block in Shoreditch. It means nothing.

The other option is that this is a front for another company that wants to remain anonymous at this stage.

I’m not entirely happy with what I’ve seen of Real Energy’s credentials, something doesn’t ring true to me.  Maybe it is a front, but if so, what’s the point in that? And if Heartfeltdawn, you and I can dig up this kind of info, one would imagine McLaren would also have done some homework. Bit like they did before agreeing to put a
Honda engine in their car? =)

I might be totally wide of the mark, but time will tell, eh?

They're certainly going to look very silly if Toro Rosso beat them, or if TR finish the first couple of races and they don't.

Obviously the old Honda engine had issues, but you have to wonder if Mclaren are pushing way too near the limit of aero at the expense of cooling.

McLaren's issue is not engine related. Battery and electrical failure. Look s like McLaren's fabled quality control. Perhaps they should get Gibson to sponsor them.

I see McLaren are trying to poach a Williams sponsor.

Yes, of course you’re right, Simon. Sorry, my words didn’t come out quite as I meant them to. I was harping on about doing homework/due diligence, using McLaren/Honda as an example, but I worded it badly.
