question on wiring/grounding

    I've soldered a short piece of stripped solid core mains wire to a star washer under the volume pot, bent it to shape and soldered ground wires to it.

    That's pretty much how I've done it, or the loop is held by a screw into the control cavity side.

    That sounds like a neat solution.  I have some 9.7mm tags on their way from Fleabay, but in case they don't do the job, I'll try this.

  • The solder tags may not be quite as neat as the tone bug, but they did the job:



    Here they are in my JM build - not a blob of solder in sight on the back of those pots!

    You need to connect the ground terminal of the volume pot :).

    Do I?  It seems to work without connecting that terminal - although I've only tap-tested the pickups, and haven't assembled the rest of the guitar yet.
