Your best/favourite/most admired player?

What's Hot
TanninTannin Frets: 5451
(Acoustic guitar, of course - we are in the acoustic section.)

Our tastes change and one week we really like this player, next week we see someone shiny and get our knickers in a knot for someone else. But as of this week, in the heat of the present moment,  who are you listening to / trying to emulate / gobsmacked by / wishing you had tickets for?

I'm going for Joscho Stephan. Amazing player who has so much fun. The clip below is his trio; note that rhythm player Sven Jungbeck takes the first solo, Joscho is the one left as we look at the screen.

Richard Smith. Incredible technique and can turn his hand to any style. In fact he's just been touring Europe with Joscho Stephan.

  • I've not seen too many more entertaining than Tommy Emmanuel. He seems to have it all. I love the music of Simon and Garfunkel and the Everlys too. I dont tend to concentrate much on individuals and prefer the overall product of different instruments complimenting each. I thought your other Antipodean countrymen and lady,The Seekers were good at this. Great vocals, double bass,12 string and 6 string were superb complimentary sounds.

Clive is amazing. Your post reminded me that I need to see him in concert again. And lo and behold, he's at Alstonfield village hall on the 25th!!

However...Sold out That would have been great as it's not far from me.

    Bugger.

Another vote for Bireli Lagrene, and for Sylvain Luc - with whom he used to collaborate

I also have a soft spot for the Friday Night in San Francisco trio

There’s a guy on YouTube called ‘daddystovepipe’ I’ve been following for a couple of years. Excellent player if you’re into the dead thumb bluesy kind of thing.
