Randomly watched a video of Goo Goo Dolls doing Iris today and got me thinking that the song is clearly better than the City of Angels movie.

Any other examples?

  • Time of my life. I mean, for a regular guy who's not sexually fancying Swayze, Dirty Dancing is a decent movie, but that song is more memorable.

Jesus, the movie must be very poor, then.

I liked the films below but not as good as the songs

    St.Elmo's Fire
White Christmas (or Holiday Inn too)
    Bohemian Rhapsody
    Yesterday
    Blinded By The Light

Maybe not the general genre discussed so far, song wise, but Daft Punk did the soundtrack for the Tron sequel and it deserved a way better film.

    Although I liked the film.

Jeff Beck did some cracking work on the Young Guns 2 soundtrack.

I love Django (the Franco Nero one, not the Tarantino codswallop with Jamie Foxx), but although the film is great the theme tune is even better.

Goldeneye is better than its theme song.

I won't argue on the others though. Even the best Moores had the best songs too (Live & Let Die, Spy Who Loved Me). And the worst are probably Octopussy, Mooonraker and Die Another Day, which all had dreadful movies to go with.

Goldeneye is probably the closest to a level between decent film and decent song for me, and I did enjoy the video game to be fair. I quite liked the Die Another Day song to be honest, i liked the string sample especially. It did feel a bit like a song reused from something else though I suppose

Batman Forever is a good one. I don’t dislike the movie but both Hold Me Thirll Me Kiss Me Kill Me, AND Kiss From a Rose are exceptional

Also Armageddon - while hardcore 70s-era Aerosmith fans will moan at I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing, they’re wrong because it’s a banger
