My son loves any show where people are eliminated and there are rules,  so we are going to give it a try.

Hard to believe it was so many years ago when many of us fancied Jet and Lightning

    Definitely not me.
I didn’t watch The Anabolic steroids show the first time round.
More rehashed old television programs because nobody can come up with any decent new ideas.

No.  John Anderson (the referee) is 92, so I doubt he's up to the job any more.  But that phrase of his is one of the things I remember best about the original show.

I believe the new head referee is Mark Clattenburg and the commentator is Guy Mowbray.

I enjoyed that. I’m not sure the Walsh’s would have been my first choice of presenters but once you get past the first bit which is dominated by mini bios it moves along at a lick.
Other people may remember the original better than I do but there didn’t seem to be a lot of reinvention.

We’ve been revisiting the original series on YouTube with our kids and they’ve really got into it. They also really enjoyed the new one.

Great fun family entertainment with a fairly positive message

I’m just thankful it’s not another celebrity based bag of shit, and loosely promotes fitness. I doubt I’ll watch much of it mind you.

I don’t seem to have time these days. Much rather post drivel on here, exercise, walk the dog, listen to audiobooks, podcasts, music - TV is very much a last choice.

I used to like watching the original Gladiators but it got a bit stale and I guess that's why they ditched it. I'm surprised they brought it back, especially on the Beeb.

I watched it for 15 minutes. Boring. And yep, as stale as before. I will give it one series, but as it's the Beeb (who think Mrs Browns Boys is prime Christmas Day viewing) it will probably go on for a decade.

We watched it as a family and thought it was great - real classic Saturday night TV just like the original series was. A lot of fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

    Well, that was... alright.

I'm quite taken aback by just how much of it is exactly like the old show.  The logo hasn't changed, the song is the same (if it's not the exact same performance then it's bloody close).  The set looks the same, the events are pretty much the same, the Gladiators are new but might as well be the same...

Slight reservations about Bradley and Barney as presenters, but they do have a connection with the original show so it's not quite as odd a choice as it seems.

    Yeah, I liked it.

I remember the original: American Gladiators. Late night stoner tv staple, usually followed by Renegade! and then learning zone.

Never watched the uk version but wasn't Alan Partridge a fan?

Me too, but there was no stonering... I think in my region Renegade was more like 12.30pm whereas American Gladiators was right in the middle of the night.  I can't remember if it was on the same nights as Raw Power aka Noisy Mothers.  I certainly used to record American Gladiators and something else.
