Beard or no beard?

I currently have a short trimmed one.

I grew it the year before covid on holiday and for the first time I really liked it. Luckily, even though I'm nearly 60 it is still very dark with a bit and salt and pepper on the chin and my eyebrows and lashes are still dark so it works. People think I dye it!

My wife likes the look and while she prefers smooth shaven, is okay with the feel as long as it doesn't get long.  I've pissed about the shape a few times before now .. goatee, longer, shorter at the sides longer at the chin... now it just follows my natural beard line mostly but needs attention every 3 days as the hairs seem to grow at different rates.  They don't suit everyone.

I've had one for about twenty years, it gets trimmed back to almost nothing every couple of weeks.

There's too many uneven patches of grey and white, some of the white sticks out at right angles to my face and the whole thing looks "10p for a cup of tea, guv" if I let it go.

I may go back to goatee, the sideburns can look very patchy like I've been trimming it with the lights off.

    The real question is...

    Billy Gibbons' 'Tone Beard'?

Or a half-arsed Shaggy from Scooby Doo one?

I can't grow one, well, not a thick enough one to notice anyway. I try to do the stubble thing but even that's not dense enough, but it can be if I haven't shaved in 3 days.

I've had one for years now; first a stupid goatee, now the full thing. Didn't actually think I'd be able to manage a full beard, but decided to give it a go and while it took a while to fill in it's definitely there now.

I think I look much better with it, can't imagine shaving it off again any time soon; apart from anything I'd look about 12 years old, and even fatter than I do now
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I had a porno/ Ned Flanders moustache in my 30s, eventually shaved that off and was clean shaven for about 20 years. Then I’ve had a goatee for the last 10 years. I’ve tried to grow a full beard a few times but I’ve got sparse patches on one side and it looked crap. I shave every 3 or 4 days and trim the beard about once a month. My wife likes my beard, therefore beards are ace.

I have very little facial hair, literally have a shave once a week if I need it or not.

All I've ever wanted was side burns, but I have  about 9 hairs on the right and 7 on the left.

I dont get the genetics part, my father had a lot of facial hair a my brother also has.

I've been beardy since Covid at once point looking like Jack Black.
Shaved it off once, the wife hated it as it made me look 20 years younger than her.
So now go to the hairdressers once a month for a trim to keep it nice and tidy looking.

The simplicity of a no 3 all over the top and a no 2 all over the face every 6 weeks is perfect for me.

I’ve had a beard since I discovered that shaving regularly really messed up the skin on my face when I was in my early 20’s. I’m now 47 and a beardy for life.

For a long time I had a beard .....a fat goatee about 5 inches long platted with beads in it ......I also had a no 1 on my head ( but I still have a pretty full head of hair at 61 )
I have been  in a motorcycle club since I was 23 and it was part of the typical identity.
I was asked to shave and let my hair grow out by a barrister when I was giving evidence in court on behalf of a brother .
    I did .
I also realised how much younger and more handsome I looked .......so I kept it that way .
I grew a beard back for a few weeks a couple years ago .....it was grey .
Don't want to look like a Father Christmas / Captain Birdseye .......so I shaved it and remain clean-shaven.

    Beard.
Beard trimmer > razor  for man face. Can go neat short stubble for the smart business types. Safer, one off cost, ears, nose, eyebrows, included for those aged 50+ werewolf long hairs that seem to appear overnight.
    Dont worry, be silly.

I shave on Mondays and Thursdays. Too lazy to shave every day and too lazy to maintain/groom a proper, lush beard.

Nose hair - if this serves any purpose when it comes in such quantities as it does once you reach a certain age then it's one I have yet to discover.
