What current guitar would you buy for £1000 +/- £100

Just for fun and general interest. So hypothetically you have £1k +/- £100 to spend on a new guitar. What would you get and why?

I'd get a Fender Vintera II 50's Nocaster. Pretty good pickups on them and I like the fatter neck. £969

It's a pity you can only get the Strat Vintera road worns now. The tele's were great and they don't seem to be popping up on the used market much nowadays. If they still did them and they were in that price bracket then that would have been my choice.

Probably another partscaster, not sure what, but the following parts:-

Guitarbuild, Hosco or Allparts body. Lightweight, nitro finish
Musikraft Neck - the last one I got was great, lovely dark rosewood and SS frets.  Nice full C profile, oil finished.
    Mojo pickups, or similar.
    Gotoh hardware, or similar.

Last one I made came in around £700, although pickups may be upgraded.

I meant new, readily available shop bought guitars.

However, having looked at your post above you aren't that target market. Superb work on both guitars. You can build a much better spec'd guitar and still be under budget. Where did you pick the skills up from? I'd love to have a go myself but wouldn't know where to start. I'm OK on the electronics side of things but spraying a body that well I think is beyond my skillset.

If I could find a G&L Doheny in a good colour combo for that, I'd do that. Ideally a V12.

It would certainly be used as more guitar for the same buck - After that I would need to be inspired, so it would be played first, with an open mind, then find something that tells me yes - Therefore in reality many guitars could tick the box, but I can't list it now - A Fender Classic Player from around 2006/7 era are generally nice, with a couple of upgrades (loom + p/ups) - But I played a used Heritage H140 gold top a few weeks ago - Sold it for £999 and IMO it seriously out performed its price tag

    There is a magnificently handsome Bill Kelliher signature LTD Eclipse in the classifieds here for £800 from @Benm39 ;;
Right now I can’t think of any guitar I would rather have if I had to make a choice to buy a guitar today.

Or I’d look for an Ibanez RG or AZ-whatever it is, as long as it was a hard tail variety.

Having recently bought a Vintera 50’s Strat, I’d get a Vintera 50’s Tele to go with it.

As for the why - the Vintera Strat is pretty much my perfect guitar. The V neck is really comfortable, pickups are great, and I prefer the unfussy look of the eight-hole single-ply scratchplate to what came after. If the Tele is anything like as good I’d be very happy with one.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I would say something from the PRS S2 range, excellent (and consistent) build quality, the necks feel great, most models don't have the bling factor people object to with core PRS (but OK, you can still hate the headstock).

But I don't think I can find a new one for £1,100 today.  My S2 Standard 22 cost me £1,214, new, just a few months ago but that was a Black Friday sale price.

This, all day every day. Formerly a strat devotee, I'm really into two-pickup guitars now.

My only complaint about the Vela is that some are too light and too lively.

I found this Schecter at Andertons. Weird blue paint job and a Sustainiac. What's not to like? OK, I'd rather a non-locking trem, and maybe a more interesting scratch plate, but still.
